Giovanni “The Matador” Amador Rosales is a cerebral and calculated bare knuckle fighter whose defensive mastery and strategic mindset define his nickname. Fighting out of San Jose, California, Gio earned the moniker “The Matador” due to his counter-striking style that resembles the grace and precision of a matador outwitting a bull. Standing 5’11” and switching stances with fluidity, he enters the ring bringing an aggressive defensive pressure that disorients his opponents. At 34 years old, he holds a 1-0 bare knuckle record with a recent TKO win over Nicholas Whitmore.
Trained under the legendary Cain Velasquez and Coach Isaiah Gonzalez at the renowned American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), Gio has developed a well-rounded game backed by years of cross-disciplinary experience. With an amateur MMA record of 6-2 and extensive training in Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, sambo, and tai chi, his toolkit is as versatile as it is effective. A former 155-pound MMA champion for the 51 Fifty promotion, Gio now focuses his career on excelling in BKB while honoring his roots and mentors. While his primary corner for BKB 46 will be Coach Gonzalez, Velasquez remains an ever-present influence in his journey.
Outside the ring, Gio is passionate about hiking, swimming, working out, and the occasional video game. He has no spouse or children, choosing instead to devote himself to training and competition. Gio steps into the BKB ring to not only win but to showcase his artistry in motion. He sees fighting in BKB as an honor and a chance to make money doing what he loves. Forever grateful for the opportunities afforded by BKB and its promoters, Gio “The Matador” Rosales remains committed to a career built on discipline, respect, and the timeless thrill of combat.
